Dr. Michael Lara specializes in the treatment of mood, anxiety and memory disorders through an integrative approach to health. Dr. Lara combines traditional psychiatric approaches with innovative, evidence-based strategies that include nutrition and exercise prescriptions. 

As an expert and educator in the fields of nutritional science, exercise,  and psychiatric illness, Dr. Lara integrates the latest research findings into his prescriptions that treat the whole person, not just symptoms. 

Dr. Lara was educated at Stanford, Harvard, and the UCLA School of Medicine. He completed his postgraduate residency training in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford. He is board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. In addition to managing his private practice, Dr. Lara speaks frequently at national conferences on health-related topics. He is the author of three 6-hour DVD programs: "Food for Thought: How Nutrients Affect the Brain", "Pumped: How Exercise and Movement Improve Brain Function", and "Evidence-Based Nutritional Strategies for Protecting the Aging Brain". 

Dr. Lara is also the author of "Biohack Your Brain", an online video course that reviews the top 10 ways of using supplements, exercise, and electronic devices to optimize brain function.
